Notes: I was lucky enough to be on Grand Cayman Island recording with another band— I could literally walk out the back door of the studio, down a flight of steps, and directly into the ocean. From the backdoor of the studio, it was a 15 minute swim out past the inner reef to the deep water where I liked to do some free diving, underwater photography, and spear fishing for the invasive and highly poisonous lion fish that have invaded the Caribbean sea. Out in the deep electric blue was the outer reef— here I saw sharks, moray eels, and extremely creepy big barracuda that materialize like ghosts out of nowhere. I swam out that far plenty of times by myself, but it was always nicer when I had a swim buddy with me. On this day JJ, a Caymanian and friend of the band I was working with, went out with me— I only managed to spear a single lion fish, and he had no luck with his lobster hook, but it was a great day to free dive with this seasoned local waterman.
